Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl Review - Hands On Problems / Description / Review / Preview / Cheats / Guides / 5.878 views
Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl will probably be one of the best shooters ever made. Will have an outstanding AI, great graphics and unmatched evolution. I will break this preview in 3 parts to describe you the world you are preparing to enter.
The Story After the explosion in 1986 a second presumed explosion was seen as a bright light, but no one knows for sure. The military restricted access to the area and people, like always, became curious and toked the chance as a opportunity. They went like fools to the area hoping to find treasures forgotten by the world, valuable objects that remained behind, anything that can be sold for big money. What they found was more that they could chew, it brought chilling shivers down their spine.
Eventually a new type of human emerged, part explorer, part mercenary, part treasure hunter. He became a Stalker, a human that will risk his life for irradiated objects called artifacts. He would not die because of radiations but at the hand of horrifying monsters, anomalies due to the spreading radiations, chilling energy entities and sometimes killed by other Stalkers.
You will enter this world at the beginning of your "carrier". A world that will crush you at a heart's beat if you don't pay attention.
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) The monsters will be far more "intelligent" then the usual game NPC/ Evil Enemy, they will stalk you, sneak behind you, attack you with full force if they "smell" you are injured and uncapable of fighting proper. If you outpower them in terms of firepower and corner them, they will change their position to another location or try to escape.
In terms of military tactics they are almost flawless, they will have a virtual hearing of their own and they will react to sounds like bullets hitting walls or ricochets, call for reinforcements if they feel outnumbered. You know the moments from other games when you could have taken the opportunity to shoot the enemy when he was reloading without cover? Well know that now you can't do it anymore because the AI will take cover while reloading.
The monsters are very different, each and every one has it's unique capabilities made to make your life a living hell.
The whole system is universal and works for all combat in the game. It's called the A-life system and the NPCs will live their daily lives roaming the world in search of food, stalkers collecting artifacts, army bases making their routine, with members patrolling or sitting at the campfire, while you sneak near them.
The RPG system You will have no classic skill system in this game, no sir. You will evolve depending on what you will going to do often, you can be a cold hart killer or a peaceful explorer. Each gun from the game will "feel" different and you will have to use it in order to get the hang of it. These small details will make the game very exciting and appealing.
So you will evolve depending on what you do in the game, simple as that.
Conclusion? A new feeling brought to the gaming world, a freedom like new feature, where there are no physical obstacles, you can do whatever you want or depending on how you are going react in the game you will end the game in 7 different ways. We have great hopes for this release and we hope it will stand up to it's name.
