Why after ALT-TAB the volume is at max output?

First try to the update to the latest sound drivers from your manufacturer's site.
If the problem persists, the steps below will force WoW to do sound processing in software mode:
-Navigate to your World of Warcraft\WTF\ folder (default is under C:\Program Files\)
-Open the config.wtf file there with WordPad (not Notepad)
-Add the following line at the bottom of the list inside the file
SET soundmaxhardwarechannels "0"
Save the file and close it.
3. As a last resort you could also simply press CTRL-S or CTRL-M twice to shut the sound/music off and then turn it back on. When the music is turned back on via this shortcut it will be at the previous volume setting. |
