Many of you expected a lot from the new Neverwinter Nights 2 so lets see the results.
Neverwinter Nights has brought many innovations in Dungeons&Dragons games, bringing all the time something fresh to enjoy.
Have no worry Neverwinter Nights 2 lives up to the quality of the first part and even gets better.
The first thing that receives our attention are the rules on which the game was made. It’s among the few games created upon the Dungeon&Dragons rules version 3.5, while the Neverwinter Nights had a 3.0 core. What does this mean? First and the most important thing is that you will get addicted much faster. How’s that ?Well the game is divided in smaller parts and when we say that we refer to the levels of the game. This will bring you a larger diversity of spells and abilities, much faster, thus making you to ignore the fact that you need sleep.
The beginning doesn’t look so different from the other RPG’s, you 'wake-up’ in West Harbour, a small town in which you apparently live. But it doesn’t surprise us when we found out that this small town is under attack and you must survive in order to live your destiny.
While adventuring you can take up to 4 comrades to aid you. The AI is rather impressive, like when answering a question from a group member the answer can influence in good or bad the actions to come. For example if you lie to a comrade several times he will stop trusting you at a given time. But lets say you got a little (but just a little) bored of you character, well Obsidian comes to the rescue and gives you the opportunity (cool one too) to play the other characters from your party, a great improvement that brings more fun.
Your tactical advantage will soon be unveiled not only because you can control 4 comrades but because you can upgrade them as they level up or just click the Recommended Upgrades button. But how is the camera while playing, well it brings full control to the player, can watch the action from above, behind the character, in front of him and many other angles, but it has some stressful moments too, when it gets stuck or behaves rather slow, other then that it’s a good improvement.
Neverwinter Nights 2 comes with very good Day/Night cycles and graphics. The lights are impressive especially inside buildings where a more stealth based player would take the full advantage and enjoy the game. But the game is not flawless, you will find moments when characters will float above the soil or limbs that move through your body.
Nevertheless is an intriguing game that shouldn’t be missed and can aspire to the best RPG ever made.
