The Good:
-Huge places to explore with captivating landscapes that literally make you say: WOW! . -Many options for you character personalization. -Great voice acting made by real actors. - Ear pleasing sounds effects and music. -Graphics that was worked to the smallest detail possible. -Probably one of the best AI ever seen in a game. - Pretty good mechanics in combat, stealth and magic.
The bad:
- Some unreal movement from animals and people, for example when they turn around they look like they spin on ice. - Problems with performance, it seem few computers can run the game with no problems. - A bit long loading times.
The Elders Scroll 4: Oblivion is not the continued storyline of Morowind as many expected but more like a stand alone from the story point of view. It’s one of the most complex games ever made, with meticulous landscapes, armours and weapons. Even if you aren’t a fan of RPG’s this game will get your attention. The landscapes are simply huge, it’s a game in which you can get lost very easy in forests that never end or caves like labyrinths.
As for 'what you can do’ in this game the possibilities are almost endless, what you don’t have enough money? Well get in someone’s house and rob them, here you go, now you have money, steal their horse too and run away because the towns guards we be on your tail right away.
If you are a courageous person you can compete in a series of gladiatorial battles to the death or with the stolen or earned(I doubt you earned it) money you can invest in your favourite shop or buy a house.
What really makes it different from other games is the possibility of playing it in a stealth way or in a pure action hack and slash, but the most enjoyable way is to play it as an adventure game, explore the vast lands, visit towns and help people by finishing quests and more. Ok, so you begin playing you choose a name, race, and gender for your character and you find yourself in a prison with a inmate making fun of you, ok, that’s not fun, but before you realise what the hell is going on you get involved in a desperate escape attempt by the emperor and his loyal guards. The emperor seems to recognize you from a dream he had and believes you can find his illegitimate heir, but before you can do that you’ll have to escape from the prison. You picklock doors, fight goblins with melee, ranged or magic attacks and evolve not by gaining experience but by practicing your skills.
Now here’s the fun part, depending on how you have fought at the end of the sequence you can choose a class for your character, for example if you played as a melee character and killed every single living thing you encountered with your merciless sword then you are likely to become a Barbarien, but you can create your own custom character too and this really brings light to the game. Basically you can choose a specialization in combat(melee), magic, or stealth, the primary attributes, seven major skills, and your birth sign.
As for the quests you have 2 options:
1. Play on the line of the primary quests, which will obviously end the game a lot faster 2. Complete the secondary quest from towns, people you meet and more, this taking a lot more time
So either you’re a fan of RPG’s or just a normal gamer this is a must try game.
We give it a 9.5
